Caribbean Princess

While at the 2013 UK Cruise Convention in Southampton, I was lucky enough to spend some time looking around the ship, and also enjoyed a fantastic lunch onboard.

Ship Facts and Figures – Caribbean Princess was launched by Princess Cruises in 2004, and was the last of four ships in the Grand Class, although she differed from the others by having an extra deck added. She has a gross tonnage of 113,000, 1,200 members of crew and carries 3,080 passengers.

Dining Options – For dinner you have the choice of traditional dining at one of the formal dining rooms, or Anytime Dining in the Coral Dining Room. Alternatively there are casual venues such as the 24 hour International Café or the Horizon Court and Bistro. For something a bit special, you could choose one of the Speciality Restaurants for a cover charge, including Sabatini’s for Italian Dining, or the Crown Grill, for steaks and Seafood.

Breakfast and lunch is open dining in a choice of restaurants and café’s around the ship, and there are always opportunities for snacks during the day, such as a burger by the pool.

Onboard Facilities – take your choice of the pools and hot tubs, Lotus Spa for all the different treatments, basketball, jogging track, fitness centre, putting course, library, shops and boutiques. You can also find plenty of places to relax and read a book, or watch the world go by.

Children are well catered for with Princess Pelicans (aged 3 – 7), Shockwaves (aged 8 – 12) and Remix (aged 13 – 17). They have a great selection of activities including video games, movies, arts & crafts, karaoke and much more.

Accommodation – there are a total of 1,557 staterooms and suites onboard, spread across over 30 grades, ranging from an inside up to the Owner’s suite with balcony. This gives you a great choice and there is bound to be something to fit your requirements. 25 of them are accessible to wheelchairs.

Entertainment – take your pick from full production shows in the main theatre, Movies under the Stars on the large screen on deck, performers, casino, night club or relaxing with a cocktail in one of the many bars.

What is Included? – All of your great food onboard, apart from speciality restaurants, entertainment, accommodation and the services of the entertainment staff.

Extras would include drinks, purchases from the shops and spa, and shore excursions.

Summary – the quality of the food and service on Caribbean Princess is extremely high. The accommodation is very good, and there is a great choice of things to do. All this means that you can be assured of a great cruise experience.
