Dubrovnik

Sitting on the eastern coastline of the Adriatic Sea, Croatia offers stunning beaches, charming villages and, of course, the impressive walled city of Dubrovnik. It's stunningly intact wall has contributed to the city's reputation as a tourist hotspot and has subsequently been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status.

Croatia's position within the Balkan Peninsula is enviable among its neighbours, as its long stretch of coastline and gorgeous islands make it very accessible via a cruise.  GoCruise takes a look at just some of the excursion opportunities available in this Croatian paradise.

Ston

Sample Croatia's Culinary Traditions - 4 hours

A scenic drive along Croatia's Adriatic coastline will take you to the charming village of Orasac, where you will be able to learn about traditional local produce. Within the walls of a traditional Croatian village house, you will be able to learn about the production of olive oil and sample locally made cheeses and hams with a glass of wine.

Afterwards, you will travel to the small town of Ston, which is also referred to as a smaller version of Dubrovnik due to its surrounding walls. You will be able to spend some time exploring this small town before enjoying a delicious dessert with tea or coffee in a local restaurant.

Sveti Jakov Beach Croatia

Sveti Jakov Beach - 5 hours

A relaxing boat ride past the island of Lokrum, the Fort of St Lawrence and Dubrovnik's city walls will take you Sveti Jakov Beach - which is arguably one of Dubrovnik's finest beaches due to its fantastic views of the Old City. Upon arrival, you will be able to enjoy a welcome drink before being shown to your complimentary beach chair. After that, you will have three hours to just relax, soak up the Mediterranean rays and cool off in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea.

Grappa

Travel to Traditional Villages - 4 hours

Admire Croatian-style architecture as your driver takes you through a chain of pretty villages in the Konavie Valley on route to Čilipi. Here, you will be greeted by a local family before being invited into their home and learning about the traditional production of grape brandy, olive oil and wine. This family has lived in the home for generations and they will provide you with many enlightening stories as you tour the estate. Afterwards, you will be able to savour a delicious lunch made of local produce whilst local musicians play a mixture of Croatian and international songs.

Cable Car and Buggy Experience - 5 hours

A cable car ride to the top of Srdj Hill will provide unparalleled views over the city of Dubrovnik and the surrounding areas. Take time to admire the fantastic views before embarking on an exhilarating hour-long buggy adventure. Following the lead buggy, you will be able to gain an insight into areas of Dubrovnik which are rarely seen by visitors.

Elaphite Islands

Visit Croatian Islands - 7 hours

The Elaphite Islands, located off the coast of Dubrovnik, is one of the most beautiful archipelagos that the Adriatic has to offer. Covered in Mediterranean and subtropical vegetation, you will be able to experience three of these beautiful islands for yourself. Stopping at Kolocep, Sipan and Lopud, you will be able to appreciate the haven of peace and unspoiled natural beauty and gorgeous sandy beaches that each of these islands has to offer. On your boat, you will enjoy a delicious lunch of grilled fish as you sail between the islands.

The tranquil waters of the Adriatic Sea can take you to some of the Mediterranean's most gorgeous destinations including Venice, Kotor, Budva and the Tuscan coast.
