This is not a typical cruise ship - the only evening 'entertainment' is fascinating lectures by the expedition team on their specialist subjects; biology, geology, ornithology, the life cycle of penguins and seals, the history of whaling in the region or the enthralling journeys of discovery by the great polar explorers.
The lecture theatre and bar located on the Erickson deck affords excellent views through its floor-to-ceiling windows and is the main meeting place onboard. This is where our expedition leader and guides provide their daily informative briefings and lectures. Just next door, the Nordic coffee-bar has comfortable armchairs and provides complimentary all-day coffee and a good selection of teas. The daily afternoon tea is also served here with freshly-made sandwiches and cakes. There's also a small lending library with numerous fascinating books on Antarctic
Our Riviera tour manager is also an expert wildlife photographer and will be on hand to offer valuable tips and advice.
The Hudson deck and Sun decks have a large area of open deck space offering the best possible views in all directions. The ship's Bridge is also open to passengers, there is a small gym, sauna and shop (open at specified times), as well as a small infirmary and doctor on board.
Please note this ship does not provide facilities to accommodate Kids/Teens.
It is customary aboard all cruise ships worldwide to give a gratuity at the end of a cruise, providing, of course, you have received good service. The amount you give is entirely discretionary, and is then divided equally among the crew onboard. For guidance on the amount, Riviera Travel suggest between €5 and €10 per person per day.
Again at your discretion they also recommend tipping your local guides and drivers at the end of each tour, for which you can use the following guidelines:
Local guides €2 per person, per day
Drivers €1 per person, per day
Should you also wish to give a gratuity to your Riviera Cruise Director and Tour Manager, this is also at your discretion.
