Launched in 1993, refitted in 2018, Braemar is a small destination ship with 7 decks able to cater for around 900 guests. With large windows, polished wood, shining brass fittings and classic fabrics, she offers a charming, traditional feel. Designed with more mature cruising passengers in mind, a range of dining, entertainment and relaxation facilities are onboard.
Highlights
On selected cruises, special interest themed excursions are on offer, where a range of activities and entertainment will be provided, regarding a particular point of interest or subject. A guest speaker will talk about their subject and 'Shore Tours' will take place. A 'Shore Tour' is a tour of a particular destination that will help bring to life and give a better understanding of the particular theme/subject that is being taught.
One example is a tour of the wine regions of Bordeaux and Rioja while wine expert Jilly Goolden delivers talks onboard and there is the opportunity to take part in wine-tasting activities and entertainment.
The majority of theme programs are free of charge, however relevant materials and 'Shore Tours' may have an additional cost.
Dining
Two restaurants, a café and a range of casual snack options are available onboard, as well as a choice of set dinner times or freedom dining in relaxed or formal surroundings. Special themed dinners are also available on certain nights.
Enrichment
Fred. Olsen offers an interesting array of guest speakers to discuss various subjects including upcoming destinations. These are available on the Vista themed cruises.
Entertainment
Entertainment onboard Braemar is varied with large selection of lounges, each with their own atmosphere. From live comedians to card rooms, you're bound to find something to entertain yourself whilst onboard, whether you're looking to have some fun, or just relax for a bit.
Health & Fitness
A selection of health, fitness, beauty and relaxation areas are available onboard. From The Atlantis Spa & Salon to the state-of-the-art Fitness Centre, where you can work up a sweat in one of the many fitness classes on offer.
Kid & Teens
During the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays only, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines offer organised and hosted children's activities within the Little Skippers Club subject to a minimum number of children booked on the cruise. The Little Skippers Club supervises children from ages 5-11, with Children's Hosts arranging meet and greets with parents and children when they embark.
The Little Skippers Club offers a wide range of activities including games, contests, scavenger hunts, sports and fitness instruction, arts and crafts, pizza making and cooking sessions, pool and swimming sessions, discos, karaoke and kids bingo.
