MS Otto Sverdrup is designed for exciting, sustainable expedition cruises along the Norwegian coastline.
MS Otto Sverdrup (formerly MS Finnmarken) is named after a great Norwegian polar hero. Sverdrup was the first person to ski across Greenland, was a key member of polar expeditions and was the captain of the legendary Arctic ship 'Fram'. He also served as a Hurtigruten captain between expeditions.
The re-designed MS Otto Sverdrup is an ice class 1C ship. It's equipped with advanced maritime technology that makes her exceptionally well suited for expedition cruises in Norway.
Natural Scandinavian materials like granite, oak, birch and wool have been used in the ship's renovation to create a relaxed and stylish atmosphere that adds to the premium onboard experience.
This ship also offers a chance to indulge yourself in our new Wellness area, complete with gym, lounge, treatment rooms and sauna, and guests can enjoy the outdoor pool and hot tubs on deck 7. For taking in the magnificent scenery, Observation decks are located on deck 8, and in the aft of decks 5 and 6.
Highlights
MS Otto Sverdrup is an advanced, more sustainable vessel. She is due to get battery packs installed between 2020 and 2022, that will support the ship's engines and drastically cut emissions. The ship also has the ability to access shore power when docked, cutting shoreside emissions. And the vessels engines are upgraded to low-emission motors, complying with all known and upcoming regulations.

Take a deep breath, relax and enjoy.
Enrichment
Enjoy a lecture on the ship's deck or conference rooms and learn something new. You will be joined on the Norwegian coast by expert Expedition Teams, all hand-picked due to their knowledge and experience. They will give lectures and lead activities all designed to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the areas you're sailing in. Learn about the history, cultures and wildlife.
Entertainment
An explorer voyage with Hurtigruten is rigged towards maximizing your experiences of the places we are going to. On days when we are not landing we encourage you to spend as much time as possible out on deck. Join our educational talks and lectures at different locations on board.
A travel experience is often much richer if you have knowledge and understanding about the nature, wildlife, culture and history of your destination.
Our Expedition team will make sure you are well prepared for the experiences ahead of you. They will also re-capitulate and answer questions in hindsight. You will not find bingo, arcade games and entertainment theatres often found on conventional cruise ships.
Our aim is to get you closer to unique environments and to allow you to share the experience with your fellow travellers. Occasionally there may be some light entertainment on board in the evenings.
Health & Fitness
Keep yourself feeling fresh and active in the Fitness Room or sweating away the day in the sauna.
MS Finnmarken is also the only Hurtigruten ship with both a swimming pool and hot tub on deck
Kid & Teens
There is a playroom available for children.
